A permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) is high efficiency by eliminating field excitation loss. In addition, PMSM becomes high efficiency, small and lightweight by using the rare earths magnet, which has high energy density. These advantages, the development of a new type inverter and its control method are advantaged for widely using PMSM as variable speed motor or wind generator. With such condition, standardization has been advanced as IEC and JEC-TR21001.
In the view of such background, "The Investigation Committee of the Technology of Performance Calculation for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machines" was set up from April, 2006 to March, 2009 under the Technical Committee of Rotating Machinery. In this technical report, the activities of this investigation committee are summarized. The points of the activity are as follows;
1. The definition and means of technical terms for PMSM are adjusted.
2. The performance, specification and control method for PMSM are investigated.
3. The calculation methods of the performance on PMSM are arranged.
4. The recommendation methods for constant determination and calculation methods are suggested.
