System Design Technologies of Voltage Sourced Converters for Power System Applications
Investigating R&D Committee on control technologies of voltage sourced converters for power system applications
Keyword : Voltage sourced converter, System design, Power system
Voltage sourced converters with the characteristics of independent control of active, reactive power and a few installation restrictions in power system are applied to various uses compared with of line-commutated converters as capacity increases and cost down of on-off control power semiconductor devices are rapidly promoted.
This report summarizes the results investigated for the purpose of arrangement of items required in practice work under installation of a voltage sourced converter.
The contents of this report are as follows. Chapter 1 describes the purpose and background of this report. In chapter 2, sufficient effective guide useful for engineers is provided by database of a plan, design and engineering work and test methods required in system design. Chapter 3 adjusts situation of simulation software useful for system analysis, conformable standard of interconnection to power system and documents obligated in the law as common reference information. Chapter 4 shows domestic and foreign system design examples such as BTB, HVDC, STATCOM, adjustable speed pumped storage system etc. In addition, the results of a questionnaire survey are reported for the purpose of providing useful information not published in papers to engineers.
