JEC-2300, the standard of high-voltage alternating-current circuit-breakers, has been revised in 2010. The points and the background of the revised edition are summarized comparing with IEC62271-100. Prior to the revised, comprehensive investigation was performed on interrupting phenomena of high-voltage circuit-breakers on the transmission system in Japan. First pole to clear factor, time constant of DC component of fault current and relay time were systematically researched for the first time in Japan. Transient recovery voltage (TRV) was analyzed for many cases of terminal fault and line fault. Interruption current and TRV parameters were summarized for transformer-limited fault (TLF) for the first time in Japan. A lot of the research and the investigation results are described in this report.
We hope this report can contribute to the understanding of the JEC-2300 and offer guidelines for future development and operation of high-voltage circuit-breakers.
