Electric power system for automotive and its utilization
Electric power system for automotive and its utilization Investigating R&D Committee
Keyword : electrical propulsion vehicle, electrically controlled or powered, power infrastructure cooperation, electrical energy storage device
Nowadays, global automotive society is facing three main issues, namely fossil fuel scarcity, global warming, and air pollution. Electrical propulsion vehicles, as one promising solution to solve these problems, haves been greatly prevailed in recent years.
Meanwhile, as vehicle market is expanding at a high rate in BRICS and other developing countries, many different types of electrical propulsion vehicles will be introduced according to local demand and vehicle usage. In this book, the structure and feature of latest electrical propulsion vehicles (e.g. start-stop system, 48V vehicle, EV, HEV, PEV and FCV) are described at first. Furthermore, electric circuit and electrical energy storage technology of electrical propulsion vehicle components including their trend is investigated. Then conventional and wireless charging system and newest for moving vehicle charging system are also described. As for electrical load, fail operational Electric Power Steering, that are required for automated driving system or ADAS system and anti-glare headlight is described. In addition, simulation technology that has been commonly used over all stage i.e. design concept, actual design, evaluation, production testing, preparing volume production and actual volume production is presented. Their technical trend and the coupled analysis of magnetic field, optimization process for multistage system, electric & thermal coupled analysis of power modules, and many others.
This book ends with proposal as a solution for possible conflict between electric vehicle users that demands convenient charging, i.e. as anytime, anywhere, quick and low-cost charging service and the power infrastructures, which have characteristics about tradeoff between maximum output power peaks and facility overall efficiency. Regarding this issue, evaluating the influence of electric vehicles spread to the power network becomes an important topic. Specific examples on this topic given in this book are reactive power control simulation, experiment for effective utilization of renewable energy for EV in Maui Island, experiment project of charging control & communication electric vehicle for effect on electric power system in Europe, and other corresponding experiments.
